Batadrava than to be developed into cultural, tourist destition: Himanta

Batadrava, Oct 6: "Our government is committed to develop Batadrava than, the birth place of great Vaishvite saint Srimanta Sankardev. The committee constituted by the Chief Minister to make Batadrava than a cultural and tourist destition has already prepared various schemes and projects. Batadrava is an ideal place for religious and cultural tourism. Funds will never be any constraint for developing Batadrava than as an important tourist destition," said State Health, Education and Tourism Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while interacting with media persons after arriving at Batadrava Than on Thursday.

Arriving for the first time in his life at Batadrava, Sarma also said, "I am very grateful to be here in Batadrava than. I think everyone feels an extraordiry spiritual power just as I felt after visiting this divine place."

Earlier, Sarma reached Batadrava than in the afternoon and offered prayers wearing traditiol Assamese dress. He also visited Akashiganga and other resources of the than and planted a Rudraksh sapling at the Batadrava than premises. Sarma was accompanied by Angoorlata Deka, legislator of Batadrava, actor-cum-BJP leader Akashdeep Deka, Batadrava than maging committee secretary Brajen Kakati and others.

As the panchayat polls are round the corner, Himanta Biswa Sarma also took part in a party workers' meet at Raidongia here where he announced to construct a model college, a 10-bedded hospital with an inspection bungalow at Batadrava soon. He also announced to release Rs 1 crore for construction work of Batadrava Than's boundary wall.

Legislators Rupak Sharma and Angoorlata Deka, secretary of State BJP, Dipluranjan Sharma and many BJP leaders were present at the meeting and asked party workers to gear up for the upcoming panchayat elections.
