Bayern doctor resigns over 'damaged trust'

Munich, April 17: Bayern Munich team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt stepped down on Friday from his post at the club, citing a damage of trust.

The reigning Bundesliga champions have been troubled by injuries in recent weeks and were missing key players Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, David Alaba, Javi Martinez and Mehdi Betia during the 1-3 defeat against Portuguese club Porto in the Champions League football tourment on Wednesday.

Defender Holger Badstuber and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger have also struggled with long-term injury problems in recent months and the team med just three outfield players among the substitutes for Saturday’s Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The long-serving 72-year-old has now confirmed he has resigned after bearing the brunt of the blame for the side’s defeat in Portugal.IANS
