BAYM burns Rajen Gohain's effigy

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Oct 29: The activists of Brihattar Asomiya Yuba Mancha (BAYM) Golaghat district committee burnt the effigy of Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain on Saturday to protest against Northeast candidates being ignored during appointment in the Railways. The activists shouted various slogans against the Central Government as well as the State Government.

The general secretary of the BAYM, Mridul Hazarika said that 93 posts were reserved for the candidates of the Northeast but the local candidates were deprived and candidates from outside the Northeast were appointed in these posts. BAYM has warned the government to avoid its ‘anti-Assamese’ policy or it will have to face mass agitation soon. In the protest, BAYM working president bajyoti Saikia, adviser Rinku Khaound, Ranjit Dutta and Kushal Saikia took part.
