Dibrugarh, Nov 22: Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), the prestigious and largest petrochemical complex of Assam, is under operation and in advanced stage of stabilization. All-out efforts are on to stabilize the units and resolve various issues at the earliest prior to its full capacity operation.
In its continuous endeavor to ensure a healthy environment and care for health of people of the surrounding areas of BCPL plant, BCPL is organizing health check-up camps in the nearby villages. The main objective of this initiative is to facilitate the villagers with general and preventive health care. The programme has been organized in three phases with a motive to extend medical services of specialists to address health related problems of people residing in the vicinity of BCPL.
As part of this programme, the first free health check-up was organized at Kalakhowa M.V. School on September 20. The second free health check up camp was organized at Lezai Higher Secondary School on September 26. Specialists from Assam Medical College and Hospital, as well as private practitioners in the areas of Medicine, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Pediatrics, ENT & Orthopedics, from Dibrugarh provided medical consultation to the villagers and free medicines were also distributed to the patients having various ailments.
More than 400 villagers from nearby areas like Lezai, Baruagaon, Panigaon and Lalmati turned out and took advantage of the health check-up camp. The initiative was a great success as most of the people living in these interior villages have no access to medical facilities. Continuing this campaign BCPL is organizing the next health check-up camp at Garudharia.
