B'deshi smuggler held

SHILLONG, Aug 17: The BSF troops deployed in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya today apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler. The smuggler was identified as Md Jamal (25) of Ghomgaon in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. Sources said BSF troops after noticing some suspicious movement of some individual near Indo-Bangladesh border, cordoned off the area and apprehended one Bangladeshi smuggler. According to the BSF, Jamal was infiltrating into India from Bangladesh to check the possible routes for smuggling fish and other items into India form Bangladesh.  In another incident, the BSF troops seized 17 cattle from the bordering area of Lynkghat and Tuka in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya while being smuggled into Bangladesh. In a separate operation, BSF troops seized 93 Cft of wooden logs from Gumaghat in South West Khasi Hills district.
