Be Part of Nation Building: Governor Dr B D Mishra

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra on Thursday asked the NCC cadets to become model citizens of the country and be at the forefront of nation building.

Addressing the NCC cadets on the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Camp (EBSB) conducted by Additional Director General, NCC North Eastern Region at Tezpur University, in Assam’s Sonitpur district, Dr B D Mishra exhorted them to imbibe leadership instinct to serve the Nation, develop sublime personality traits and join the Indian Armed Forces, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed. “NCC is a very important institution, which has been instilling nationalism, patriotism and spirit of ‘Nation First’ amongst the young students,” he said. Recalling his first NCC Camp of 1955, in which he received the Best Social Service Award, the Governor said that it was the beginning of his life of punctuality and discipline.

B D Mishra said that NCC helps in character building, motivation, secular outlook, camaraderie, leaderships along with discipline and punctuality. It inculcates self-discipline, obedience, sincerity and determination amongst the cadets. Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also a NCC cadet, the Governor advised them to follow the guiding principle of their organization to rise in life.

“The cadets must personify the motto of National Cadet Corps, which is ‘Unity and Discipline’”, he said.

The governor advised the cadets to have self pride and self respect and they must study hard and think, believe, say and act for the nation. Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat (EBSB) camp aims to provide opportunity for understanding the cultural diversity, history, flora and fauna and its people. It also aims to create awareness amongst the cadets regarding diverse cultural heritage of the country.

The EBSB camp at Tezpur University, which is being organised from January 1 to 12, has 600 cadets, which includes 100 cadets from Uttar Pradesh, and the rest from all eight Groups of North Eastern Region (NER), the communiqué added.
