Bent electric posts lying on road dividers making a right-angled triangle to the ground is a common seen in Guwahati. While two such bent electric posts are still seen on Tripura Road, some of such posts have done the vanishing act after lying on road dividers for years and on. Even as when such a bent electric post does the vanishing act it leaves behind its vestiges at the very spot where it stood tall before being bent, maybe, at the impact of storm, being hit by speeding vehicles and the like. On Tripura Road in the city, many such bent electric posts have been removed. However, underground electric wires of the removed posts still stick out like sore thumbs at the places. The wires that stick out on road dividers may be sealed ones, but still they do pose a threat to the public with genuine reasons. The number of deaths due to electrocution in the city and the State has been on the rise.
