‘Besides law and order, NRC duty is the main responsibility of CRPF in Assam’

GOALPARA: “At present in Assam, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) duty is the main responsibility, besides law and order, and all CRPF jawans and officers should perform their duties with full dedication and without any hindrance,” said VK Kaundal, DIG Range headquarter of CRPF, Chandigarh in Goalpara on Saturday.

He was speaking on the occasion of this year’s annual inspection of the 152 Battalion CRPF and the get-together function held at the Goalpara town based unit headquarter of 152 Battalion of CRPF. The three-day inspection programme began on October 10. During the inspection, the visiting officer inspected the CRPF companies located in far-flung areas, their accommodation, and infrastructure.

Kaundal further lauded the Civic Action Programme (CAP) taken by the CRPF that not only helps in effective control of anti-social activities by miscreants but also helps to bridge the gap between the villagers, local public and security personnel. In Saturday’s programme, Mithilesh Kumar, commandant of 152 Battalion, Dr. AK Bharti, PK Sing, Binita Kumari, and other officers were present.

At present, there are three CRPF companies deployed as per routine in Goalpara district. Besides, for additional NRC duties, three companies of SSB, CISF two companies and BSF one company have been deployed in the district.
