Best CO and VDP awards given

Silchar, Feb 8: Sajal Dutta, circle organizer (CO), Village Defence Party (VDP), Katigorah, Antu th, secretary, VDP, East Mohanpur, Katigorah, Monish Kumar Dhar of Hailakandi district and Sreedhar Biswas of Karimganj district, has brought laurels by getting state level rewards for best CO, best VDP and best workers. They were rewarded at a function, which was organized on the occasion of the 68th Assam Village Defence Day, at Khapara, Guwahati, recently. Sajal Dutta, who won the best CO, VDP, was handed over his a merit certificate and trophy by Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal. Sajal Dutta has won it for the second time. He received the same prize in 2010. This day is observed to commemorate Hari rayan Baruah, probably the first in the country to have founded the Village Defense Party organization at Birisayek, which is near Titabor on January 29, 1948.
