DHEKIAJULI, April 27: The ABSU, NDFB (P) and People’s Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (PJACBM) observed ‘Betrayal Day’ in Dhekiajuli. The activists of these organizations observed a sit-in in front of the office of the Circle Officer of Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle. More than 200 activists took part in the protest. Kharumadao Wary, the assistant secretary of the ABSU, said that the Central Government had betrayed them by remaining silent on the issue of separate Bodoland. Later, the ABSU activists shaved off their heads at the protest site.

TANGLA: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-Progressive) and People’s Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement observed a three-hour long ‘Betrayal Day’ in the Udalguri Durga Mandap premises and expressed their anguish over the apathy towards their demands for separate Bodoland and facilities to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland area. The protest meeting was addressed by president of UPPL, Pradip Kumar Daimary, vice-president ABSU, Dipen Boro, NDFB(P) chairman, Dhiren Boro, PJACBM chief convenor Rakesh Boro and NDFB (P) speaker B. Benga.

 The speakers lambasted the Central government for its failure to fulfil its pre-poll promise of resolving the statehood issue. They announced national highway blockade from May 2 followed by indefinite hunger strike, 36-hour chakka bandh and railway blockade programme to pressurize the government to hold parleys to resolve the long-pending demands of the Bodo people along the northern bank of the Brahmaputra.
