BG track trial run conducted

Itagar, May 8: The trial run on North Lakhimpur-Murkongselek (154 km) stretch of newly converted Broad Gauge railway track was conducted by NF Railway on Thursday. Commissioner of Railway Safety, NF Circle, Kolkata, Sudarshan yak, along with the top ranking railway officials conducted the high-speed trial run, an official communiqué said here today.The New Guwahati Express with 14 bogies arrived at Murkongselek station near Ruksin gate of Aruchal Pradesh at around 11.45 AM.

The railway officials inspected each and every department of the railway station and the two platforms at Murkongselek station, which has been fitted with all modern amenities.Meanwhile, construction of station buildings, platforms, sigls points has been completed and the fil touch has to be given, while running room and other structures are under progress.The last phase of gauge conversion work from North Lakhimpur to Murkongselek (154 km) along Rangiya–Murkongselek railway has been completed earlier this year. The NF railway authority had announced that the passenger and good trains would be operated from March15 this year.The Rangiya–Murkongselek gauge conversion project including branch lines (511.88 km) included in the budget 2003–04 is a tiol Project. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 1717.29 crore.All train services along the route were kept suspended for the last four years due to the conversion work, the communiqué added.
