GUWAHATI, June 11: The former captain of Indian soccer team Bhaichung Bhutia will support Argentina in the forthcoming World Cup and it is only because of Lionel Messi.
Bhutia was in the city to launch a soccer ball named Vector X which is also a FIFA accredited Pro ball. Bhutia is the brand ambassador of this ball.
Talking at the side line of the function at SAI complex Bhutia admitted that he was a big fan of Messi. “No doubt I am a big Lionel Messi fan. Messi had reached close to winning the World Cup in the past but unfortunately he couldn’t touch it. So it is because of Messi, I want Argentina to win this time,” said the legendary footballer.
However Bhaichung felt, teams from Europe have the good chance to win the next edition of the World Cup. “The competition would be held in Europe. So I feel the teams from this continent have the better chance to win the World Cup.”
Meanwhile Bhutia found very optimistic on the future of the Indian football. “At present we have several footballers who can follow the steps of Sunil Chetri and other seniors of Team India to become the stars of future. I am optimistic that India would march forward in the world football scenario,” said Bhutia.
He also added that the North had produced several top stars of Indian football in the past and the process would be continued in the coming days also. “The people in this regions have great passions in the soccer and there are good talent in this game. So in the coming days too we would see more footballers from this region in the national teams as well as the different top clubs of the country.”
