Bhao Samaroh concludes at Dhemaji

DHEMAJI, Feb 11: The All Assam Bhao and Dihaam Samaroh concluded recently at Silapathar, 30 km away from Dhemaji. “The aim of organizing the bhao competition is to generate interest among the new generation so that this tradition, which was started by Srimanta Sankardeva, is carried on by the next generation. Bhao is an inseparable component of the treasure trove of culture which Srimanta Sankardeva left behind and it is our duty to pass this tradition to our next generation,” said Diganta Saikia, renowned dramatist and chief guest of the open session.  Jorhat Baligaon Udayan Sangha and Sibsagar tghar were given second prize for their bhao Rohiteswar Dharma Pariksha and Dakshya Jagya, respectively and the third prize was given to Nilakh Sudarsan Gosthi for their bhao Matsya Abatar and Chari ved Udhar. The best bhao was Sakunir Pratisodh staged by Jorhat Maharathi Cultural team.  In the State-level Dihaam  competition, the Nilakh Koupatani Dihaam team led by Pinki Borah was given first prize and Chamarajan Dihaam team led by Marami Chutia won the second prize while Chumuni Brindaban team led by Anil Dutta won the third prize and 3 No.Murkong Selek Dihaam team led by Akash Gogoi was given the fourth prize. Silapathar Ramdhenu team was given the best disciplined team.
