Jorhat, March 18: “In order to make Modi’s Make in India campaign a success, education of students in science and technology is a must,” said Bharat Rat recepient CNR Rao, who had come to Assam recently to attend the 54th iuguration ceremony of the North East Institute of Science and Technology.

He added that countries like Japan, Korea and Chi were paying more emphasis to scientific education and were spending huge amount of money for it. The event was presided over by the Director of the Institute, Dr D. Ramaya, who commented that it was sad that sportspersons and actors receive far more awards and recognitions compared to scientists in the country. “No scientist till today has got an opportunity to make a speech in the Parliament while lots of sportspersons and actors have done so,” he said and added that he was about the future of the country.

Indumati Rao, wife of the Bharat Rat recepient, was also present as chief guest. She praised the tural beauty of the Northeast. Dr Ramen Chandra Das Baruah, veteran scientist of the State, also attended the event.
