Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Terms Congress-AIUDF Alliance Unholy

GUWAHATI: The alliance between Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) will benefit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politically, was the first reaction of the ruling party after news about AIUDF’s decision to contest in only three Lok Sabha constituencies this time. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, AIUDF contested in seven Lok Sabha constituencies, however, this year, the party will contest only in Dhubri, Barpeta and Karimganj.

BJP National General Secretary and Northeast in-charge Ram Madhav claimed that the alliance between Congress and AIUDF was devised solely to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party. “The party has forged an unholy alliance to paralyze the hold of BJP in Assam”, he stated.

Reacting to the decision of AIUDF to contest in only three Lok Sabha constituencies, State BJP Spokesperson Mominul Awal contemplated that the saffron party has always been aware about the understanding between Congress and AIUDF. “We have been claiming since the beginning that Congress and AIUDF have a tactic understanding. Both the parties are dual sides of the same coin and with the present calculative move of the AIUDF, this has been proved. Their understanding is supposed to dither our party but in reality, will only assert a political stronghold of BJP in the state”, Awal stated.
