Bhubaneswar Kalita, Dilip Saikia file nominations for Mangaldai constituency

MANGALDAI: Showing the strength of their supporters, both the candidates of the BJP and the Congress for No.8 Mangaldai HPC on Monday filed their nomination papers before the Returning Officer at Mangaldai.

Congress candidate Bhubaneswar Kalita and BJP candidate Dilip Saikia, escorted by several thousands of supporters, filed their nomination papers creating the poll atmosphere here. BJP candidate Dilip Kumar Saikia was accompanied by State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass, minister Bhabesh Kalita, AGP legislator Satyabrata Kalita and BJP legislator Guru Jyoti Das as he submitted his nomination papers. Earlier, the BJP candidate led a huge procession covering the main thoroughfare from Bhebarghat Chowk to the DC office.

Rajya Sabha member-cum-former APCC chairman Bhubaneswar Kalita, accompanied by Dalgaon legislator Illias Ali and former minister Basanta Das, submitted his nomination papers before the Returning Officer. The Congress too showed their strength with a procession of several thousand supporters from Rajiv Bhavan to the DC’s office. A good number of senior Congress leaders also accompanied Bhubaneswar Kalita. ABSU and NDFB (P) sponsored United People’s Party Liberal projected candidate Pradip Kumar Daimary, accompanied by MCLA and leader of the opposition in BTC assembly, Rwngoura Narzary, submitted his nomination papers before the Returning Officer. On the other hand, Biren Basak of Bharat Gana Parishad (BGP) also submitted his nomination papers.
