Bhumidhar Barman, Basanta Das visit Kokrajhar

 Kokrajhar, Aug 22:- State Revenue Minister Bhumidhar Barman and Water Resources Minister Basanta Kumar Das on Saturday visited Baoraguri, Jaharbari, Banglajorah in Kokrajhar to take stock of the flood situation and held meetings with official of district administration, local MLAs and representatives from the BTC administration at Circuit House in Kokrajhar.   Later talking to media persons, Barman said that they visited Kokrajhar to take stock of the flood situation in the district under the direction of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. He announced that Rs 4 lakh ex- gratia would be given to the families of those who lost their lives in the flood and fincial assistance would be given for damaged houses and cultivated crops.  Barman termed the flood as ‘unfortute and unwanted’ for the region. He said that the government had already taken measures and would provide sufficient support and relief materials in the affected areas.  Kokrajhar is witnessing the worst flood situation in recent years. However, the situation has improved and people are slowly returning back to their villages from the temporary relief camps.  Around 500 villages in Kokrajhar and one lakh people have been affected and they urged Barman to take adequate relief measures.
