Bhupen Hazarika remembered

MARGHERITA, Sept 10: The 91st birth anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was celebrated at various places of Margherita with great enthusiasm and gaiety.  Asom Jatiyotabadi Yuba  Parishad Tinsukia District Committee also held a two-day programme at Margherita India Club. The first day of the programme began with hoisting of AJYP flag by Pradip Kumar Bhuyan, working president of AJYP central committee, followed by smriti tarpan by Kak Chandra Bharali, general secretary of AJYP central committee. Tribute was paid at the portrait of Dr Bhupen Hazarika by Pradip Mahanta, senior leader of AJYP central committee. After that Bhupen Sangeet competition and Bhupen Dance competition were held among children.

The second day of the programme began with Poet Samaroh where Dr Ramen Hazarika iugurated the Poet Samaroh and Hitesh Gogoi, president of All Assam Poet Sanmelan Tinsukia District Committee, was present. More than 40 poets took part in the programme. After that a play titled Suicide Note was staged by pathoi Patkai. The programme concluded by prizes distribution.
