Bibi Mariam Fatema Mazhaar annual Urus festival to be held on February 25

MARGEHRITA, February 22: The Bibi Mariam Fatema Mazhaar annual Urus festival will be held on February 25. The Bibi Mariam Fatema Mazhaar is situated at mdang Colliery, which is 4 km away from Margherita Town. Bibi Mariam Fatema belonged to Syed dysty of Prophet Hazrat Mohammed whose ancestors came from Baluchistan to MK Line mdang, Margherita in the year 1882, said Toufik Khan, a social worker of Margherita. There are two mazhaars, one of Bibi Mariam Fatema and the other of her nephew Anwar Shah Qadri. During the annual Urus festival more than one lakh devotees of various religious faiths come from West Bengal, galand, Aruchal Pradesh, Cachar, Guwahati, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Tinsukia and other parts of the country, said Imran Khan, Khadim (chief priest) of Bibi Mariam Fatema Mazhaar. The  Bibi Mariam Fatema Mazhaar covers an area of 12 bighas and12 lessa and there is a madrassa titled Madrasa Islamia Misbahul Uloom where more than 50 students stay and study, said Imran Khan.
