Bid to develop Mikong as model village

Itanagar, April 17: Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering has called for collective efforts to achieve the goal of Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) in the State.

The Congress MP from Arunachal East Parliamentary constituency said this while attending a meeting organized at Mikong Dere (community Hall) at Ruksin in East Siang district on Monday for the development of Mikong village as a model village under SAGY, an official release stated on Tuesday.

Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries Tatung Jamoh also attended the meeting.

“We must all work together to achieve the goal of model village under SAGY to develop and create sustainable amenities and infrastructures, focus on social sectors such as health, education and livelihood opportunities” Ering said while highlighting the vision for the development of the model village under the Central programme.

Ering said sustainable amenities and infrastructures in terms of rural roads, cent per cent open defecation free (ODF), proper drainage, clean potable water supply and other facilities could be created along with upgraded infrastructures.

He said the progress of the implementation of the programme would be keenly monitored.

Jamoh also urged for active support of the village community and proactive efforts of the development departments for the successful implementation of SAGY for Mikong village.

He stressed creating quality infrastructures and amenities for sustainable growth as they are common assets of the village.

The local MLA also urged the village members to come forward for Aadhaar enrollment to avail the welfare schemes extended to people including senior citizens and students. On pleas for posting of medical officer at Mikong sub-centre and subject teachers, he assured to take up the matter at the earliest, the release added.
