Big B plans way forward for 'mission' Hepatitis B

New Delhi, April 6:  Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been roped in for a campaign against the infectious disease caused by Hepatitis B virus (HBV), will meet authorities to plan the way ahead for spreading awareness about the health issue. The 72-year-old took to micro-blogging website Twitter to share an update. “The start of another mission - the awareness for Hepatitis B... meeting authorities to take this forward - like Polio & TB,” shared the 72-year-old, who flew to the capital earlier Monday.

Big B had previously tweeted about Hepatitis B virus (HBV). The “Don” star has been associated with Unicef as a Global Ambassador for polio eradication since 2005. His active campaigning for the cause, coupled with other factors, led to India’s polio-free status. Now he is putting his weight behind the Hepatitis B campaign. “Wish to start a campaign on awareness of Hepatitis B... Met some committed doctors and shall strategise... Detect and cured asap!,” Big B had tweeted in December 2014.  (IANS)
