Big win for Guwahati-IIT in soccer

GUWAHATI: IIT Roorkee, Madras, BHU and Delhi entered into the semi-finals in hockey event of the Inter IIT Sports meet held in Guwahati today.

In football, IIT Guwahati thrashed IIT Bhilai by 6-0. IIT Delhi beat IIT Jodhpur 3-0, IIT Kharagpur fought hard to beat Bhubaneshwar by 4-3. In the other matches IIT Dhanbad won against Gandhinagar by 4-2 and IIT Kanpur beat IIT Bombay by 2-1.

In cricket, IIT Madras, Mandi, Bombay, BHU, Roorkee, Kanpur and Guwahati won their respective pre quarter final games.

In Women badminton IIT Kanpur, Bombay, Kharagpur, Pallakad and Jodhpur girls beat IIT Gandhinagar, BHU, Delhi, Indore and Dharwad respectively by 2-0 whereas IIT Ropar defeated IIT Dhanbad by 2-1.In basketball, IIT Roorkee easily defeated IIT Guwahati’s women team by 34-7. IIT BHU in a highly contested game defeated IIT Kharagpur by a slight marginal score of 43-42.
