Bihu celebrated at Dergaon with a difference

DERGAON, April 19:  The Rangali Bihu was celebrated at Bongalgaon here today  with a difference. The newly formed environmental  organization Beethika of Bongalgaon in association with leading ture organisation AASHRAY today launched a massive plantation drive as a part of Rongali Bihu celebration .  

The programme was started with the planting of two saplings at the main entrance of Bongalgaon Bar mghar by two senior citizens of the village —Sarulora Barua and Soanmanuh Hazarika

Earlier the iugural speech was delivered by the president of Beethika Murulidhar Goswami.  The iugural session was moderated by Poran Goswami, secretary of Beethika.

Significantly,  the people assembled in the event, also took oath to look after the saplings as well as to work for conservation of the ture.  Dilip Hazarika, village head of Bongalgaon village, administered the oath.

A street play on conservation of ture was also organized as a part of the event. The street play, directed by  noted dramatist Saponjyoti Thakur, was presented by the children of Sampriti Moi Parijat.

After this plantation of saplings were carried out at several places of the area.

Poran Goswami, secretary of Beethika said that  the plantation drive will be continued for several day where every saplings will be numbered and different persons will look after them.

Meanwhile , local people have lauded the initiative of the two organizations.  

“No doubt it is a very good initiative. This should be a role model for the young generation,”  said  octogerian Murulidhar Goswami.

The members of AASHRAY were introduced by Gopal Goswami, adviser of Beethika. The programme was moderated by Moniram Bora, Suren Goswami and Pradip Goswami.

The other persons who led the plantation drive were Tonkeswar Bora and Manik Gandhia at Bongalgaon Ali end point, Anil Mahanta and reswar Bora at -pukhuri paar,  Murulidhar Goswami and Akani Bora at Uttar Bongalgaon mghar , Deepali Goswami and Arati Devi at the premises of Biswa-Baani Pustakalaya.
