Doomdooma, April 24: Under the auspices of Doomdooma Marwari Yuba Manch Pragati Branch (Women wing), Rongali Bihu was celebrated for the first time at Doomdooma Marwari Panchayati Bhavan on Monday.
Dressed in traditional Assamese mekhala chadar the women folk of the Marwari community took part in performing Bihu dance. The programme first got underway with a Bihu dance presented by two Marwari women. Thereafter, artistes belonging to Assamese, Marwari, Hindi, Bengali and Nepali communities presented Bihu and modern dance and drum beating. Journalist Arjun Baruah attended the function as chief guest. In the end, prizes were given away to the winners.
