Binchara village faces erosion threat

FROM A CORRESPONDENT
DHUBRI, April 30: Massive river bank erosion by the Gangadhar river during the last two weeks has posed a major threat to border village Binchara under Dharmasala Block in Dhubri district.  More than 200 families of the area are passing sleepless nights as the turbulent river has threatened to erode vast areas of the village. People of the area alleged that the district administration has not yet taken any protective measures to control further erosion. The river is rapidly approaching Baladoba daily market, Baladoba pre-senior Madrassa and a number of educatiol institutions of the area. It may be mentioned here that the barbed fence along the India-Bangladesh border had been washed away last year causing threat to the villagers due to illegal trade and cattle-lifting. The affected people of the village demanded immediate anti-erosion measures to prevent further erosion in the area.
