Binodini Deka passes away

DOOMDOOMA, October 28: Binodini Deka, a resident of Doomdooma town in Tinisukia district breathed her last on Wednesday morning at her residence in Azad Road. She was 85. Binodini Deka was the wife of freedom fighter gendra rayan Deka who was also the former Chairman of Doomdooma Town Committee and vice-president of undivided Dibrugarh District Congress Committee. She was suffering from old-age ailments and few days back she sustained major injuries after she fell down in her house. Born in the family of Shanti Ram Deka and Chandra Prabha Deka of village Bongaon in lbari district, she got married with gendra rayan Deka in 1942 and since then was associated with various social and religious activities in Doomdooma. This pious lady, an ideal housewife and a successful mother, after the demise of her husband in 1985 kept herself busy with various social activities and constructed the main gate of Doomdoo Xahitya Xabha. She also doted generously towards social organizations and religious institutions.  She leaves behind two sons and six daughters, besides a number of grand children. The funeral will be performed tomorrow.
