Bio-sand water filters and mosquito nets distributed

HOJAI, June 28: Believers Eastern Church Satgaon Diocese, Lanka, organized distribution of bio sand water filters and mosquito nets at Bhalukmari under its Project -Community Development Project, at an old remote village at Bhalukmari (Lanka) under Lumding Constituency in Hojai district of  Assam on Tuesday.
 Accessing clean water was a big challenge for the people of villages like Kaki and Bhalukmari. The water they used for daily consumption was contamited with iron, but they had no means to filter the dirty water. Drinking unfiltered water made them susceptible to many health problems. To remedy the situation, the diocese distributed 40 bio sand water filters and 100 mosquitoes nets in this village.
The distribution ceremonial programme was held at the  Bhalukmari  Marketing Hall premises  under Azarbari Gaon Phancyat of Lumding Constituency of Hojai district on Tuesday evening. Sibu Mishra, MLA of Lumding Constituency, was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme was attended by Rev Fr N.Khumba, Vicar General Diphu Diocese, Rev Fr Thanghao, Diocesan Secretary, Satgaon and many other dignitaries.
