Stating that the Assamese race must strive for achieving success at the world stage, the CM urged the young generation to imbibe the ideals of courage in face of adversities as exhibited by Sati Sadhini in all aspects of their lives. The spirit of honesty, dedication and fearlessness must be emulated by all to strengthen the Assamese identity, he added. Stating that those countries, which have showed respect to the women, have only become successful in the world, Sonowal said thatfigures like Sati Sadhini and Joimoti would only be honoured in the true sense when the Assamese women are given the respect they deserve. He also said that strong legislations would be implemented by the state government to prevent crimes against women and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also taken steps to mete out stringent punishment to all those engaged in such heinous crimes. Informing that the state government has made a request to the Gauhati High Court to set up fast-track courts in all districts for speedy trial of cases of crimes against women, the Chief Minister said that awareness must be created in all towns and villages of the state for ensuring protection of women’s rights and dignity, the release added.
