Birth centenary of Syed Abdul Malik organised in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: A two-day seminar to mark the birth centenary of Syed Abdul Malik, jointly organized by Sahitya Akademi and Assamese Department of Dibrugarh University, started on Monday. Held at the Indira Miri Auditorium at Dibrugarh University (DU), the event was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor of DU, Dr. Ranjit Tamuli. The ceremony was moderated by noted litterateur Dr. Nagen Saikia, and Dr. Madan Sharma, Professor of the English Department of the Tezpur University, delivered the key-note speech.

In his speech, Dr Sharma spoke highly of the Sahitya Akademi award winner, Malik. The first part of the seminar began with Dr. Korobi Deka Hazarika as its moderator. Three researchers presented their research papers during this part. The second part of the seminar was moderated by Dr. Bhimkanta Baruah, which saw the presentation of two research papers. During the discussions, a documentary prepared by the Sahitya Akademi on the life and work of Syed Abdul Malik was also showcased.
