Bishnupriya Manipuris threaten to intensify stir

Silchar, Sept 27: In order to further intensify the movement for the fulfillment of 7 point charter of demands, Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Students’ Union (NBMSU) and Bishnupriya Manipuri Ga Sangram Parishad (MBGSP) in coordition with All India Bishnupriya Manipuri People’s Mahasabha, Bishnupriya Manipuri Mohila Sangstha and Bishnupriya Manipuri Ex Servicemen Organization held an important conclave at the office of the central committee on Tuesday. As a part of the broad based agitation, it has been decided to bring out a massive flaming torch rally on October 21.
 With a view to mobilize mass support for the rally, it has been decided to hold series of meetings and interactions from October 1 at the different places of Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Dima Hasao, Diphu, Tinsukia, Guwahati and Shillong. Moreover, for the proposed month long hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, from November 15 during the winter session of the Parliament, all efforts have been made to take the message at the grass root level for people’s participation in general. Following resolutions were unimously adopted at the conclave.
For making the massive protest demonstration on September 21 a grand success culmiting in issuing the ultimatum, all sections of people have been complimented for extending their help and cooperation. Further to reach the core message on 7 point charter of demands for the socio-economic, academic and cultural as well as political development at the block level, all the Bishnupriya Manipuri organizations should work in cohesion and in a concerted manner. It was resolved to conduct training camp for the same.
 Besides, at the initiative of the People’s Mahasabha a meeting of the elderly persons of the community would be chalked out with Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal at Dispur in the last part of October or the beginning of November. The strong delegation would be led by Gopidas Sinha, chief advisor of all Bishnupriya Manipuri organizations. The focus at this meeting would be the proposed 6 month long agitation. A similar delegation would also sit with the Deputy Minister in the PMO at New Delhi.
 Members of different organizations have expressed their views on sacrificing their life for making Mission 7 successful. The NBMSU and BMGSP, the apex bodies, are committed to protect the socio-economic interests of the community and are ready to play crucial role. Those present at the conclave included Subal Sinha, working president of People’s Mahasabha, Harikanta Sinha, general secretary, Jyotirmoy Sinha, chief organizing secretary, Sukumar Sinha, president, ex Servicemen Association among others.
