BJP activists vandalize Samaguri PS, demand arrest of rapists

GAON, July 23: Demanding immediate arrest of all accused in the Amoni gang rape case, hundreds of supporters and workers of Samaguri Mondal BJP blocked the SDC office and also vandalized the Samaguri police station on Thursday.

The protesters even shouted various slogans and insisted that the delay in arrest of the accused was possible only because of indirect political influence of a powerful political leader of the area. They were so furious that they went on rampage. The protesters alleged that among the traced rapists, Abdul Kadir was a close associate of Minister Rokibul Hussain. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of Abdul Kadir. Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through SDC Samaguri and urged the authorities to arrest all the culprits within hours.

On the other hand, soon after getting information about the demonstration of the BJP workers, DIG of the zone visited the protest site and also rushed to Samaguri police station and assured that all culprits would be apprehended soon.

gaon police bbed two rapists on Wednesday night in connection with another alleged gang rape case under Rupahi police station that took place on July 19 in which a girl of Uttar Khatuwal was picked up by four persons and later raped in theĀ  Rupahi area the same night. They have been identified as Mozibur Rahman of Dakhin Khatuwal and Rashidul Haque of Borpaka area.
