BJP all set to welcome PM Narendra Modi in Silchar

Silchar: The leaders and workers of the Cachar district committee of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to welcome Prime Narendra Modi who will address an election rally at Ramnagar near this town on January 4. The party is hopeful that some issues and concerns of the people of the valley of Barak will be discussed and addressed and resolved by the Prime Minister. It is relevant to mention here that it is Narendra Modi’s first visit to Silchar after becoming the Prime Minister of India. The district committee has urged upon all to participate at the public meeting.

Former union minister and veteran BJP leader Kabindra Purkayastha while addressing mediapersons at a press-meet held at the party office in Itkhola of this town on Tuesday said, “Lok Sabha election is knocking at the door. The Prime Minister’s visit will definitely boost up the morale of the party leaders and workers. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and other top BJP leaders which include Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Dr Mahendra Singh, Ram Madhav and Ranjit Dass will reach Silchar by Thursday i.e. January 3. The Prime Minister will address a rally in Imphal on January 4 and then arrive here at Ramnagar.”

Regarding the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, he further said that there are political parties like Congress who wanted that the Bill should not allow people from Bangladesh who have come here due to religious prosecution. “This is inhuman, what will happen to those 40 lakh left outs? But the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) passed it the way government did. It will be placed on January 7,” he added to say. Cachar BJP president Kaushik Rai also urged upon all to take part in the programme. “Moreover, we are hopeful that a solution will be provided for revival of the two paper mills. We will submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister,” said Kaushik Rai.
