BJP and Congress Share Honours in Sivasagar District

GAURISAGAR: In 13 Zila Parishad (ZP) seats of Sivasagar subdivision, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won six seats, namely Thowra (Anupom Telenga), Panidihing (Rupali Taye Mili), Dessangmukh (Aniram Panging), Dupdar (Kalpana Sahu Tassa) and Palengi (Prodip Gogoi), Bokota (Dhrubajyoti Mout). The Congress won five seats – Lakwa (Tarun Konwer), Betbari (Rupjyoti Mout), Amguri (Lapimoni Dutta), Rongpur (Uttom Das), Sivasagar (Jyoti Buragohain) and rest two seats were won by the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) – Jakaichuk (Rekhamoni Kalita) and Morabazar (Sumitra Tamuli).

For the post of Anchalik Panchayat member (AP), out of 62 seats, BJP won 31 seats, Congress 23 seats and AGP won 8 seats. Similarly in 62 gaon panchayat president seats, BJP and Congress won 27 seats each and rest eight seats were won by the AGP. On the other hand, out of 620 gaon panchayat member seats, BJP won 284 seats, Congress won 223 seats, AGP won 110 seats and Independent candidates won two seats. In Nazira LAC, out of four ZP seats, Congress and BJP won two seats each. Congress won Nazira (Aruna Konwer) and Joktali (Lakhi Hondique) ZP seats and BJP won Sukafa (Mousumi Baruah Tanti) and Athkhel (Hemonta Rajkhowa) seats.

Out of 20 gaon panchayat president seats and Anchalaik Panchayat member seats, BJP won 9 seats and Congress won 11 seats. On the other hand, out 200 gaon panchayat ward member seats, BJP won 102, Congress 93 seats, independent candidate one and AGP was able to win only one ward member seat.
