BJP backs Santosh, Areng resigns

TURA, Feb 3: Meghalaya BJP today received a setback with the aspiring BJP ticket seeker Jan Arengh resigning along with his supporters. Arengh was one of the aspiring BJP candidates from the Williamgar Constituency. However, he was denied party ticket.  Santosh Marak is contesting as the BJP candidate from Williamgar. The former member of the BJP tendered his resigtion along with the sigtures of his supporters to the State president, Shibun Lyngdoh citing persol grounds as the reason for the exit. Arengh was earlier the district president of East Garo Hills though he was removed from the post early last year to be replaced by Rakesh N Marak. The former BJP member is yet to decide on whether he will contest the upcoming elections as an Independent or look to support any of the other candidates.
