BJP campaign in Karbi Anglong gains momentum

Donkamokam, May 8: With the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) general election expected to be declared in a few days from now, the ruling BJP has intensified its campaign in each of the nine MAC constituencies in West Karbi Anglong. On Monday at Langsudo under no.8 Hamren MAC constituency, a meeting was held where KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang was the chief guest. He said that the BJP government cared for the people of Karbi Anglong.  “The BJP government loves the people of the hills district and that is why Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal often visits our district and yesterday’s visit by the Chief Minister in three different places was a historic one because he laid the foundation of multiple multi-crore schemes for the development of the district,” he said. “An additiol special package has been sanctioned for us and there many packages are coming in the near future,” the CEM added.

Slamming ASDC and CPI (ML)’s 15-year rule over the council, CEM Ronghang regarded those years as the blackest days in the history of Karbi Anglong. “There was no development in those years. There was only boycott and hatred among us and the worst affected was the student community,” said Ronghang.

Local MAC of no.8 Hamren constituency and EM MS Timung said that BJP was a party which promised to work for people and also kept its promises. “There are eleven ticket contenders from Hamren constituency for BJP and whoever gets the ticket, we need to vote for him,” said MS Timung.

Presided over by Sarsing Phangcho, the meeting was attended by MAC and chairman of the House Board Committee, Horensing Bey, chairman of Agriculture Board Bidyasing Teron, and others. In the meeting, Congress supporter Ser Engti and eight others joined the BJP.  CEM Tuliram Ronghang and EM MS Timung also distributed mosquito nets to the BPL families at Langsudo under Hamren MAC constituency.
