BJP candidate Topon Kumar Gogoi submits nomination for Jorhat seat

JORHAT: Topon Kumar Gogoi, the BJP candidate, Ruba Loya Gogoi, Nationalist Congress Party candidate and Arbin Baruah, an independent candidate, filed their nomination papers for the 12-Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency to the Returning Officer Roshni Aparanji Korati and Deputy Returning Officer Dr Jayanta Goswami at the Returning Officer’s office chamber in the Jorhat Court building on Monday.

BJP heavyweight leader Topon Kumar Gogoi was accompanied by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa. Thousands of party supporters gathered to show their support. From AT Road Bhogdoi bridge, Gogoi took part in a road show and was accompanied by sitting MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and MLAs Kushal Duwori (Thowra LAC), Jogen Mohan (Mahmora LAC), Bhaben Bharali (Dergaon LAC) and Renupoma Rajkhowa (Teok LAC).

NCP candidate Ruba Loya Gogoi is a prominent social worker. While talking to media persons, Gogoi said that the constituency needed development and slammed the sitting MP. Independent candidate Arbin Baruah said that people had totally lost faith in the saffron party which only gave false promises.
