BJP dominates Nagaon Zila Parishad with 12 ZPC seats

NAGAON: Pushing aside almost all political hypothesis or pre analysis over rural poll in Nagaon district, the ruling BJP has given an outstanding performance by being single majority party to form Zila Parishad in the district so far and apparently drubbed the opposition Congress, AIUDF and alliance inmate AGP.

It is however seen that the results of the rural poll obviously shakes more or less the grasps or grassroots bases of some veteran party leaders of the district as well as the state like former chief minister PK Mahanta, AGP core leadership or present cabinet minister Keshab Mahanta and Congress leader Rokibul Hussain in their respective constituencies like Barhampur, Koliabor and Samaguri respectively.

As per final results of the panchayat poll 2018 in the district, out of total 29 ZPC seats, the ruling BJP has gained 12 Zila Parishad Seats of Jagial, Baropujia, Kashamari, Puranigudam, Samaguri, Ambagan, Dar Salna, Dar Bagori, Pub Pubthuria, Chatial Borbhogia, Chaparmukh and Hatichung.

On the other hand, the opposition Congress snatched off 11 Zila Parishad seats after giving a tough contest with the ruling party in Bajiagaon, Singimari, Singia, Alitangoni, Bhakotgaon, Batradrova, Pakhimoria, Gorajan, Rupahihat, Bhutai-Pathori and Besamari while alliance inmate AGP and AIUDF have to be consoled with only 3 ZPC seats each.

It is stated by the election media cell that the final figures of AP members, GP presidents and ward members are yet to be releases as setting of exact figures on papers is going on till filing of this report.

Interestingly, in Samaguri constituency, BJP won two ZPC seats out of 4. Similarly in Koliabor constituency, BJP swept all four of the ZPC seats while in Barhampur, AGP retained two out of four ZPC seats letting Congress and BJP to share one each.
