BJP Emerges Victorious in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: BJP has clearly emerged the winner in the recently held panchayat elections here. For the position of Zila Parishad member, 20 seats were won by BJP, followed by Congress which won 3. Similarly, for the office of the member of the Anchalik Parishad, BJP secured the most number of seats at 64, whereas Congress emerged victorious in 21, and AGP in 4 seats. The BJP continued its streak of success at the office of the president of Gaon Panchayat by winning 74 out of the total 93 seats. For the office of the member of Gaon Panchayat, BJP was way ahead of Congress and AGP by securing 573 seats for itself, whereas Congress and AGP won 255 and 97 seats respectively. Despite being an ally of BJP in the State Government, the AGP contested in the panchayat elections as a stand-alone political party.
