BJP holds iftar

GUWAHATI, June 25: The Minority Morcha of the BJP Assam Pradesh held an iftar party at Haji Musafirkha at Islam in the city today. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta, Guwahati East MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharjee, Soi MLA Aminul Haque Laskar, State Wakf Board Chairman Nekibur Zaman, Minority Morcha State president Mominul Aowal, and secretaries Motiur Rahman and Mahiruddin Ahmed, and others were present at the iftar. Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said: “People belonging to Islamic faith fast for the welfare of all and world peace. I firmly believe that such fast will strengthen fellow feeling in society. The age-old  peace and harmony  in Assam will be strengthened.” Morcha president Aowal, talking to newsmen, said: “We did hold iftar party earlier also. However, this is our first iftar party after the BJP coming to power at Dispur. The BJP-led government has laid stress on the devolpment of minorities. That Sonowal himself kept the minority portfolio with him speaks volumes of his stress on minority development.”
