BJP, HSDC and NPP candidates file nomitions

Bokajan, March 17: With the State heading for the most interesting electoral battle, preparations are under way for the first phase of assembly polls in 17-Bokajan (ST) Constituency scheduled on April 4. A total of three candidates filed their nomition papers for the forthcoming State assembly elections in the SDO(C) office here on Thursday. The BJP candidate, a former Associate Professor of GMC, Dr Numal Momin drove in an open vehicle followed by thousands of cheering supporters and filed his nomition with the Sub Divisiol Officer Vikram Dev Sarma on Thursday afternoon. Another candidate of Hills State Demand Council (HSDC),  Jagat Sing Ingti, who won three consecutive assembly elections since 1996 but faced a rrow defeat with a sparse vote difference of 16,809 votes in 2011 assembly polls, is all set to bounce back and filed his nomition in the office of the Sub Divisiol Officer on Thursday. Daniel G Momin, a candidate of tiol People’s Party (NPP), also filed nomition for the 17 Bokajan (ST Constituency). Meanwhile, the volunteers and supporters of Congress organized a large bike rally in Bokajan to formally welcome their party candidate and the sitting MLA, Klengdun Ingti from Silonijan to the party’s office on Thursday. Earlier, Ingti was on the verge of being denied a ticket due to some interl party conflict. He is likely to file his nomition papers on Friday.
