BJP into hate business: Congress

 From a Correspondent

Shillong, Feb 9: The Congress on Friday said the much-touted ‘change’ that the BJP is promising to the people of Meghalaya is nothing short of promoting the politics of hate to destroy the social fabric of the country.
In a press statement issued here on Friday, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) said the party has always maintained that India derives its richness from the diversity of different cultures and its secular credentials.
“The Congress party will leave no stone unturned to see that the BJP will not succeed in their mission to ‘change’ Meghalaya through their politics of hate,” MPCC general secretary Sanjay Das said.
The MPCC stated that the most visible ‘change’ that the BJP brought after it came to power at the Centre was the politics of hate and divisiveness among the different communities of the country.
The Congress alleged that during the past four years of the BJP Government regime headed by Prime Minister rendra Modi, India has witnessed an alarming rise of hyper-tiolism and vigilante groups like gau rakshaks who attack minorities and target people suspected of harming cows and consuming beef.
The MPCC general secretary said such acts have vitiated the atmosphere of harmony that India had as a secular tion.
He also alleged that the BJP also encouraged unprecedented attacks on churches in the BJP-ruled States through the rule of the mob and hate speeches by their leaders like Yogi Adityath and Shakshi Maharaj. “However, no concrete action was taken against the leaders for their hate speeches but they were rewarded by the PM and the BJP by according them top positions,” the MPCC added.
