BJP is misleading country over Rafale Deal: Pradyut Bordoloi

Guwahati: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) senior leader, vice president and former Congress Minister, Pradyut Bordoloi in a press conference slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over Rafale deal and his visit in the Guwahati city on Monday.

Addressing the media, Bordoloi claimed that the Supreme Court's judgment over Rafale deal has some limitations. He further stated that BJP is misleading the Supreme Court on the Rafale deal.

"CM Yogi Adityanath is a communal leader who knows only to spread hatred among the people. His visit to the state is unfortunate," said Bordoloi.

Bordoloi further stated that CM Yogi Adityanath's visit in the city and holding a press conference will not give BJP a clean chit in the alleged Rafale deal scam. Furthermore, he questioned whether BJP is afraid of having a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe in the alleged Rafale deal scam.

Bordoloi claimed that Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has many pending cases registered against his name for spreading communalism in the name of religion.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday accused the Congress of playing with the country’s security and asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to apologize before the people of the nation.

CM Yoga Adityanath also addressed a press conference at Administrative Staff College in Guwahati as part of the BJP’s plan to hold 70 press conferences over the issue of Rafale deal across the country and said that the unlike most of the defense deals signed during the Congress-led UPA regime, there is no middleman or agent in the Rafale deal.

He also alleged that the Congress which during its previous regime at the Centre stalled modernization of the armed forces is now playing with the country’s security by leveling irresponsible and wild charges on the Rafale deal.

“After the Kargil war, the country’s armed forces needed modernization and induction of 4th and 5th generation fighter jets. However, the UPA regime led by the Congress kept such important defense deal on hold from 2004 to 2014. Even though the Rafale deal was initiated in 2007, it could not progress due to lack of political will of the then Congress regime,” Yogi said.
