SIVASAGAR, December 9:  Terming the rule of BJP in the Centre as a massive hit on commul harmony, left parties including CPI, CPI (M) and All India Forward Block on Tuesday observed ‘anti-commulism’ day.

On this occasion, a public meeting was organized at Sivasagar Shikshak Bhavan with veteran left leader Phani Chetia in the chair.

Speaking as chief guest, former Rajya Sabha MP and veteran CPI leader Dhrupad Gohain said BJP was trying to disrupt commul harmony in the country. “BJP is spreading the poison of commulism by issuing ‘fatwa’ on eating-habit. They are even trying to level thuram Godse, who killed Father of the tion, Mahtma Gandhi, as god,” said Gohain.

Alleging that the BJP, with the support of RSS, was dividing the country on commul lines, Gohain further said, “It is dangerous. The country is under tyrannous rule. If this process continues, our country will sink into darkness. Therefore, we unitedly need to launch a massive movement.”

The meeting was also addressed by noted intellectual Abani Borthakur, former Principal of Nitai College Bani Gogoi, president of Arunudoi Xahitya Xabha Safikur Rahman and central working president of Ujani Asom Muslim Kalyan Parishad, Manirul Islam Bora. Earlier, Kak Gogoi, CPI Sivasagar district secretary spoke about the objective of the meeting.
