BJP MAC Prakanta Warisa refutes allegations
From a Correspondent
Haflong, June 4: Prakanta Warisa, BJP MAC of NC Hills Autonomous Council, has refuted the charges leveled against him by some organizations through a press release on Saturday.
Warisa said that his attention had been drawn to a news item that appeared in certain newspapers attributing to a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister of Assam through the DC, Dima Hasao, opposing his candidature for the post of Chief Executive Member of NCHAC. As per the reports, three organizations mely Hamri Youth Association, Diyungbra isho Society and Gunjung Village Committee had submitted the memorandum in which serious persol allegations were made to tarnish his image which were also defamatory.
The three organizations exist only on paper and formed by a couple of vested interests. There are many such paper organizations in existence in the hill district Dima Hasao which hardly do any social work and run after certain political leaders for their persol aggrandisement. Moreover, from the tone of the memorandum it can be understood the real persons behind it are some disgruntled elements with political ambitions. At the same time a couple of organizations do not represent the opinion of the people of Dima Hasao.
“As per allegation, I was corrupt and did nothing for the development of the district when I was an EM. It may be noted that I was holding the charge of veteriry department. When I took charge of this department, the department was virtually in a coma. I revived the department and the department has not only stood up but is providing yeoman service to the farmers of Dima Hasao. As for my leaving the ASDC, those who submitted the memorandum forget the fact that ASDC is no more in existence and its clones have changed the nomenclature many times. The post of CEM is decided by the party leadership and not by these so-called NGOs. During my political career spanning more than 25 years nobody has ever raised an accusing finger against me. It is very clear that the intention of these NGOs was to defame me persolly by spreading lies at the behest of vested interests. They are a disgrace to genuine NGOs,” said Warisa.
