BJP members takes part in cleanliness drive

DIMAPUR, April 8: After Mokokchung, the state BJP launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign) in Dimapur on Wednesday.

Brooms in hand, BJP volunteers congregated at Clock Tower around 6 am and commenced sweeping and cleaning the street from Holy Cross School junction till Metro Hospital.

After the hour-long cleanliness drive, organized by State BJP Kisan Morcha, the stretch from Holy Cross School junction to Metro Hospital wore a cleaner look as the volunteers pick rags and other small waste usually overlooked by the municipal cleaners.

BJP legislator, Imtilemba Sangtam, also inspected the cleanliness drive to show his solidarity.

Earlier in a brief programme before the start of the cleanliness drive, State BJP general secretary and spokesman, K James Vizo, reiterated that the Swachh Bharat campaign was not a political gimmick but a sincere attempt on the part of the State BJP to inculcate to all citizens the importance of cleanliness. He reminded the party members on the “dignity of labour” and urged them to spread the message of Swachh Bharat through both words and action.

President, Kisan Morcha BJP galand, Lima Longchar chaired the programme and vice president Bendang Ao proposed vote of thanks.
