BJP seeks Kejriwal's resigtion over HC's raid order

NEW DELHI, Feb 10: The BJP on Wednesday sought Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resigtion after the Delhi High Court set aside a trial court order to the CBI to release documents seized during a raid at the state secretariat.

In an order on Wednesday, Justice P.S. Teji said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will retain the documents seized by it during a raid at the office of Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary to Kejriwal, on December 15, last year.

“The Bharatiya Jata Party welcomes the high court decision. It is clear that Kejriwal tried to protect the corrupt. He was not protecting the chair of the chief minister or the Delhi government. He even made allegations of political vendetta against Prime Minister rendra Modi. He also dragged Fince Minister Arun Jaitley into the case. Now he stands exposed thoroughly after the court verdict,” union minister and senior party leader Prakash Javadekar said at a press conference here.

“He has to resign. He every now and then asks the prime minister to resign. What we are demanding is the need of the hour,” he added. The BJP leader also sought an apology from Kejriwal for allegedly defending corrupt practices.

“He must apologise to the tion for defending corruption. He came to power in the capital on the plea of corruption-free Delhi and he is providing the most corrupt government,” he said. After the CBI raid, Kejriwal claimed his office was raided too, and linked it to a probe he ordered against Jaitley on alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association, which Jaitley headed earlier from 2003 to 2013.

Javadekar also said that Kejriwal even on Tuesday supported the act of one of his ministers, following a video clip that showed his alleged involvement in a bribe demand.

“He (Kejriwal) is not giving explation over the bribe video; rather, he is supporting it. He is supporting every such legislator of the Aam Aadmi Party, who has been charge-sheeted. He defends them till the end and is now doing the same,” Javadekar said. (IANS)
