Hamren, April 13: The Karbi Anglong People United Association (KAUPA) alleged that the poll promises made by the ruling BJP government had not been fulfilled. Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had made a promise during a visit to Karbi Anglong at Dokmoka in 2014 for the Lok Sabha election campaign that the long-standing demand of the hill people for Autonomous State under Article 244 (A) of the Constitution would be fulfilled after the party came to power in the Centre. The BJP government at the Centre is about to complete one term but no steps have been taken to grant statehood to the hill people, alleged the organization leaders. They  also alleged that during the Assembly election campaign in 2011at Hanjanglangso, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his party would take action against the SIU and PIU but till date nothing has happened.

KAUPA leaders also demanded both the State government and the KAAC to resolve the border issue of Karbi Anglong immediately. Along the border areas with Nagaland and Meghalaya and along the inter-district boundary, Army and battalion camps should be set up within this year. The Sonowal government should appoint HAD minister soon and fulfil all its poll promises, said KAUPA president Barnabas Rengma and other leaders during a press meet held at Diphu.
