BJP to protect and safeguard Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh: Rajen Gohain

GAON, April 6: “NRC and indigenous people of Assam are completely separate matters, but some political parties have spread some baseless reports and rumours against BJP and the Central Government so that they can gain political benefits. These parties, for their benefit, have created fear among the people of the Bengali community that if the NRC in Assam with 1951 as cut-off year is updated, then they will become foreigners and be bound to leave Assam,” BJP MP Rajen Gohain said on Monday while addressing a press conference held at his residence in gaon.

MP Gohain said that all the Hindus who had come to Assam or any part of India due to oppression in Bangladesh do not have to worry as the BJP had already taken a decision to give all kinds of safeguard to Hindu foreigners. For protection and safeguard of these Hindu foreigners, the BJP-led Central Government would pass or even new laws or ordinces if needed, he added. Gohain slammed the Congress and other parties and alleged that they had misguided the community.  He assured the community to provide them full-fledged protection and safeguard. In connection with the issue of illegal migrants, Gohain criticized the ‘loose and weak’ administrative mechanism of the Tarun Gogoi-led State Government and blamed two ministers in Gogoi’s ministry of allegedly providing  all kind of support to illegal immigrants settled in gaon and other parts of the State. He further alleged that with long-term planning and mission both the ministers had been trying to make Assam an Islamic state.  “Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is not on the side of the indigenous Assamese people, rather he is a foe of the indigenous people and therefore he cannot think good for the indigenous people,” said Gohain.
