BJYM questions government’s silence

Raj Bhawan incidence

FROM A REPORTER

SHILLONG, Feb 5: The BJYM has questioned the state government’s silent attitude on the recent incident that took place at Raj Bhawan where after facing sexual harassment charges, Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmugathan resigned. It may be reminded that a section of Raj Bhavan employees also demanded the governor’s removal for “seriously compromising” the dignity of the gubertorial office. The employees also alleged that Shanmugathan had “seriously compromised the dignity of the Raj Bhavan and made it a ‘young ladies club’. Terming this case as confusing and unclear the BJYM president Egenstar Kurkalang said, “The truth should come out in the open and this should not end halfdone.” “We demand the state government to hand over this case to an independent judicial inquiry and the wrong doer should not go unpunished as per the legal procedure,” he said.
