Blasters appoint Coppell as head coach

Kochi, June 21: Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Kerala Blasters announced on Tuesday that former England footballer Steve Coppell will be the new head coach for the third edition later this year.

As marquee mager, Coppell, 60, will work on building a nucleus of support staff incorporating the best of Indian and intertiol talents. He will also play an important role in the selection of the team.

Coppell was the foremost right-winger of his generation known for his speed and work rate. He won domestic honours for Manchester United with 322 appearances and 53 goals. He represented England in 42 games, including at the FIFA World Cup, from 1977 to 1983 when his career was cut short by an injury. IANS
